Renters Can Look Online for Affordable Housing

Boise, Idaho – If you're in the market to rent an apartment or house, now you can just click your way home.

Housingidaho.com allows you to find detailed listings on rentals statewide. You can even look for housing based on your household income, making it affordable to fit your budget.

The site is bilingual and, best of all, it's a free service.

Housing professionals show their support for Housingidaho.com, a new 24/7 free statewide listing of rental properties. The Idaho Housing and Finance Association launched the website Tuesday.

"It allows renters to go online at Housingidaho.com and identify the different types of rental opportunities that they maybe looking for," said Idaho Housing and Finance Association President and Executive Director Gerald Hunter.

With a click of the mouse, renters will be able to see move-in rates, features, current vacancies, photos and maps of prospective units. They can locate the rentals that allow pets or if it's near a school in just seconds, among other detailed information.

Property owners can take advantage of Housingidaho.com as well.

"Landlords who want to list their property through the site they'll have an opportunity to list rentals all over the state," said Hunter.

Nearly 5,000 rentals were listed when the site was launched. And the information is also available in Spanish for potential Hispanic renters.

"It's going to get the renters in. We'll be able to let them know we have bilingual services and that's going to allow us to reach a greater market," said Northwest Real Estate Capital Corp. Vice President of Finance Raquel Guglielmetti.

A market that might not be opened with other advertising tools.

"That's going to give us far more exposure than if we put a few lines in print, in the newspaper and the cost to go newspaper print for a certain length of time is very expensive," said Guglielmetti.

Fully American with Disabilities Act compliant, the site will also provide data for housing and economic developers, local and federal agencies, market analysis, needs assessment and other vital details.

"Rental housing is becoming an in demand commodity these days," said Hunter.

The website is supported by a statewide advisory committee that includes Treasure Valley cities, state agencies and local and federal housing groups.

If you can't log on, there's a toll-free bilingual call center you can contact as well.
